KIEZKLUB presents: Dating stories from Neukölln

Is dating in Berlin like the candy store on Karl-Marx-Strasse - with so much choice, we can't decide? Am I consuming or being consumed? Who meets whom in Neukölln, where so many different people come together, and who is out of the question? Or is dating one big shitshow in which we all fight for recognition?

Welcome to the Heimathafen Neukölln studio - our interactive get-to-know-you party! Here we explore dating as an exciting game full of insecurities, question the ideal of togetherness and shed light on unequal starting positions. Over the course of two months, Berliners aged between 24 and 76 met in weekly rehearsals to research and rehearse the process of getting to know each other. On the evening of the workshop production, they practiced dating: together with the audience, they celebrated beginnings, tested fair farewells and practiced encounters. Whether the "B" in Berlin really stands for "beziehungsunfähig" (unable to have a relationship) will be revealed when the lights come on.

With the KIEZKLUB, we are creating a place for encounters, neighborhood stories, spontaneous exchanges and new friendships at Heimathafen Neukölln. Twice a season, the KIEZKLUB invites people of different generations and backgrounds to develop and perform plays on various topics in weekly rehearsals together with professional theater makers. We want to talk, ask, answer, argue, fight, get along and, above all, perform together.
