Rilke is a phenomenon: everyone knows him, his Panther still creeps inevitably through German lessons today. But is his poetry still alive?

Jan Wagner and Norbert Hummelt have asked seventy-five of the most renowned German-speaking poets to translate a poem by Rilke into their own voice. The result is a unique anthology: Rilke poems in dialog with new German poetry. Together with Sylvia Geist and Henning Ziebritzki, the editors present their Rilke revitalization.

Sylvia Geist publishes poetry, narrative prose, essays and reviews; editor and translator; among other things, she received the 2018 Rainer Malkowski Prize scholarship.

Norbert Hummelt, poet, translator, essayist, editor and cultural journalist, recipient of numerous awards, including the Hölty Prize for Poetry of the City of Hanover in 2018.

Jan Wagner, poet, translator and essayist, awarded the Georg Büchner Prize 2017, among others. His book Regentonnenvariationen was the first poetry title to win the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2015.

Henning Ziebritzki writes poems, essays and narrative prose; he was awarded the Peter Huchel Prize for Poetry in 2020, among others.
