NORLYZ feat. MALIKA ALAOUI

NORLYZ: Handmade Electronic Dance-Jazz

The electro-acoustic live band combines the warmth and fragility of acoustic instruments with the precision and energy of electronic music: danceable and nuanced at the same time, inspired by techno, world music and jazz. The multi-faceted arrangements leave room for improvisation and take the audience on a journey through parallel worlds and cinematic sound dimensions. On their EP "Aurora Ritual" (2024), which they recorded together with the Swiss-Moroccan singer Malika Alaoui, they combine their electronic and acoustic instruments with vocals to create a hypnotic sound experience: the soundscapes are driven by trance-inducing grooves, vocals, synthesizers, wind instruments, cello and beats are closely interwoven. A haunting narrative that builds up to an ecstatic climax and blurs the boundaries between concert hall and dance floor. The whole thing is so successful that they also go on tour together.

In 2022, Norlyz released their debut album "First Dawn On Planet B.". A series of singles, trailers and live videos have been released on their own label NORLYZ Music as well as on 3000Grad Records and Best Works, including remixes by André Lodemann, JPattersson and Mollono.Bass. Since its formation, the band has played at Fusion and festivals such as Detect Classic, Elbjazz and 3000Grad as well as numerous club shows.

Paul David Heckhausen is the driving force behind NORLYZ as founder, producer, composer and live musician. The drummer and pianist has a background in rock and jazz music and studied composition and music production in the Netherlands. In order to combine electronic and acoustic music, he founded the "Schattenspiel" project, from which NORLYZ emerged with a new line-up and a new sound.

The Hungarian cellist Gábor Hartyáni was already involved in Schattenspiel in 2019 and has a preference for groove, world music and jazz.

Trumpeter Philipp Püschel and saxophonist Lasse Golz met while studying jazz in Hamburg. Among other things, they play in the space jazz band ROCKET MEN and regularly with the techno marching band MEUTE.
