Nouvelle Vague

In 2004, at the height of the French Touch, the Parisian collective around Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux released their first album and made their original concept known worldwide: New Wave = Wave Bossa Nova = Nouvelle Vague. Punk and new wave "standards" are reinterpreted in the dreamy style of the bossa nova of the 50s and 60s with its lush arrangements and beguiling vocal parts. Nouvelle Vague quickly became a global phenomenon. Within a few months, Nouvelle Vague deconstructed the concept of the "cover band" and, supported by some of the most renowned labels (Peacefrog, Luaka Bop, Rough Trade, Pias), inspired an audience that almost forgot the original versions. Together with singers Camille and Mélanie Pain, Olivier Libaux and Marc Collin create their first live show: a minimalist show with just two unique voices, a guitar, some keyboards and ambient electronic music. Triumphant world tours were to follow.
