Nowa Huta was founded in 1949 as a planned town with an ironworks combine in Leipzig's twin city Krakow. How has today's Nowa Huta district developed over the past decades up to the present day? What are the similarities and differences to the satellite towns of the GDR and the FRG? How are large housing estates and planned towns negotiated in society and in museums today? Lecture and panel discussion with Karolina Żłobecka (director of the Nowa Huta Museum) and Jonas Malzahn (co-curator of the exhibition "Platte Ost/West" at the Stadtmuseum Dresden).
