Today with 2 metal styles that approach the same thing from different directions. Metalcore with its harsh sounds, which takes hardcore punk as a model both thematically and vocally and approaches this instrumental through thrash metal, with representatives such as Haven Shall Burn, August Burn Red and Trivium.
This is contrasted by NU-Metal, the fusion of hip-hop and rap that emerged in the 80s with the heavy metal of the same era. Representatives such as Linkin Park, Slipknot and Korn characterize this direction.
