Do you feel like getting out and about, but a typical stroll through the city just doesn’t seem like enough? Then here’s a tip for Nuremberg: a self-guided treasure hunt on your smartphone—right through the Old Town, from the main train station all the way up to the Kaiserburg.
You’ll be immersed in a story: You’ll receive a strange message from a mysterious old lady who claims to be the former Christ Child. She claims to know Nuremberg’s most hidden spots—and the city’s best-kept secret. She’s looking for the brightest minds to whom she can entrust it: Only those who solve her tasks and riddles will ultimately be let in on her discovery. Some of the puzzles will take you back in time, following the traces of the city’s history and its notable figures, such as Albrecht Dürer. Will you manage to solve all the coded puzzles in time and uncover the mysterious secret?
The treasure hunt takes you directly to the city’s most notable sights—but also to hidden, otherwise little-known spots off the beaten path. Highlights include a peek behind the walls of the historic Handwerkerhof, hidden clues right in the middle of the main market square and at City Hall, and a finale at the Kaiserburg with a fantastic view of the city. At each stop, you’ll find fascinating information—just like on a guided city tour—along with puzzles and challenges.
The concept is simple: You book, are ready to go immediately, and start whenever you want—the rally can be played around the clock (best during daylight hours) and is valid for three years. Everything runs via a web app directly in your browser; no download is necessary, and no guide is required. All you need to bring are charged smartphones with internet access (only a few MB) and, ideally, a power bank. According to feedback from other players, the tour is on the more challenging side, and if something comes up: You can cancel your booking for free up until the start time. If you’d like, you can split into teams and compete against each other with statistics, rankings, and high scores.
And along the way, you’ll learn things about Nuremberg that most people don’t know:

You’ll also learn interesting facts about the city’s history—and one or two scandalous stories.
Whether as a challenge for tourists or a fresh perspective for locals—are you up for the challenge? For groups of 2 or more, approx. 120 minutes, recommended for ages 14 and up and for adults.

End point: Kaiserburg (easily accessible by public transit)
