Celebratory premiere in Stuttgart, for the nationwide theatrical release of "For the Time Being" on April 18
In this long-term observation, award-winning young director Nele Dehnenkamp accompanies African-American mother Michelle Bastien-Archer as she fights tirelessly for the release of her husband. Jermaine claims to have been innocently convicted of murder and sentenced to 22 years in prison. In an exhausting family routine of phone calls, brief visits to prison and letters, Michelle fights for an appeal in Jermaine's case and dreams of an idyllic family life outside the prison walls. The film was made over nine years and sensitively documents Michelle's emotional journey to her husband's release.
Director Nele Dehnenkamp will be present at the screening and will be available to answer questions afterwards. Sabine Oswald from the Stuttgart social counseling service will talk about the situation of relatives of inmates.
