F+K PRESENTS (AFRO BEAT)
Ogún Afrobeat is considered Spain's Afrobeat pioneer - a bold, cross-genre project from Madrid led by Nigerian drummer, percussionist and singer Akinsola. More than a band, they are a multicultural collective that unites musicians from Nigeria, Cuba, Spain, Colombia, Morocco and Italy.
Together they create a sound that honors the roots of Afrobeat - including highlife, fuji and Yoruba rhythms - as well as the genre through the seamless integration of funk, jazz, gnawa, nu-soul, electro and even a touch of flamenco.
With its music, the Ogún Afrobeat project is strongly committed to cultural dialog, the examination of migration histories and cross-border musical collaboration. By creating a space in which traditions connect, develop and find common ground, it embodies the spirit of integration and exchange and turns every performance into a meeting point for cultures. This is also reflected in the numerous collaborations and guest appearances. Among the renowned guest artists are Dele Sosimi, the musical director, singer and keyboardist of Fela Kuti, the Spanish hip-hop pioneer Frank T, the Ethiopian singer Sara Habasha, Afromeño founder Gecko Turner, Jamiroquai's percussionist Solá Akinbolá and the well-known flautist Javier Paxariño.
On stage, the band is a true force of nature - as one concertgoer aptly put it: "They are a pure dose of joy and the desire to dance."
