At Trio Catch's ear-cracking concerts, ears are opened and new sounds are heard. The focus is always on one piece, which is played twice and examined in more detail in between in an exchange with the audience. Everything can, nothing must: no age restrictions, no fear of contact, no need for previous musical knowledge. The event lasts a good hour, and the bar in the concert hall is open before and after the concert. This time, the new piece Bells of Eternity (2022) by Michael Pelzel will be presented, which the Swiss composer wrote especially for Trio Catch - for clarinet, cello and piano, but also a slightly expanded range of instruments.

Michael Pelzel: Bells of E ternity (2022)

In Bells of Eternity (2022), Michael Pelzel plays with the illusion of various bell sounds. The piece is inspired by his magical experiences in the Indian temple city of Varanasi (Benares), where the deceased Hindus have been cremated for centuries. The city is full of the sound of bells and is therefore also known as the "City of Bells"; bells ring out in the streets and on the banks of the Ganges at all times of the day and night. They create a mystical, almost sacred atmosphere that makes the proximity between life and death, but also the proximity to a possible eternity, palpable.
