A childish wish becomes the leitmotif for an entire family: the couple Vera (Karoline Herfurth) and Wolf (Tom Schilling) live a superficially happy life in Berlin together with their five-year-old daughter Nina (Pola Friedrichs) and their one-year-old son Simon (Piet Levi Busch). However, the couple are increasingly worn down by the exhausting balancing act between work, career and family. When their young daughter Nina is diagnosed with a fine motor and coordination disorder, the family's way of life is fundamentally shaken. Nina's subsequent wish for a million minutes that they could spend together just doing nice things opens her father Wolf's eyes. A million minutes might be more valuable than a successful career. So the family embarks on the journey of a lifetime for 694 days - a million minutes. In the process, they not only search for alternative life models, but also question learned thought patterns, traditions and norms.
