About the photo exhibition:

In search of the soul of Berlin, photographer Alexander Steffen (Vanishing Berlin) has been roaming his home city for many years, documenting places threatened with disappearance: Striking store fronts, industrial buildings that have become unprofitable, overgrown and deserted wastelands and, last but not least, the vacancy that sometimes characterizes entire streets. He photographs fleeting sights that we had no idea we would ever miss.

The traditional business "Willy Schmidt Steinmetzmeister" had to close in 2021 and the premises were left to decay. On the occasion of the 48h Neukölln Festival 2024, the former workshops will be used as an exhibition space for the first time, showing photographs & screen prints on the theme of "Urban Silence".

Cooperation with Berlin label noquestionsasked / open air party

The limited vinyl EP "Diskothek Harmonie" was created in cooperation with the Berlin label noquestionsasked and Vanishing Berlin. The cover comes in five variations, each framed by a handmade screen print with an individual color scheme. Each motif is limited to 50 copies.

The four tracks of the EP are held together by short atmospheric soundscapes, cut-up lyrics and the warm voice of actress Barbara Philipp. In the title track, she invites us to dance with the signs and slogans of the present. The remaining titles of Projekt Freizeit are archive recordings from the last 15 years. Created between long vanished wastelands and firewalls, pressed on vinyl to last forever.
