In the organizer's words:
OPEN END
With Stephan Dillemuth, Fid. Fischer, Calla Henkel & Max Pitegoff
Opening: 11.06. 6 pm
Exhibition: 11.06. - 27.09.2026
Opening hours: Wed. 4-7 pm, Sun. 3-7 pm
Schulze-Delitzsch-Straße 27, 04315 Leipzig
OPEN END is dedicated to the conditions of artistic self-organization and explores spaces for action against the backdrop of intensifying (cultural) political shifts and the growing pressure on art venues. The accompanying programme focuses on the possibilities of self-organization, resilience and structures of solidarity.
With the film archive of Kunstraum Friesenwall 120 (1990-1994) with Stephan Dillemuth and the episodic film THEATER by Calla Henkel & Max Pitegoff - who have been running the NEW THEATER HOLLYWOOD in Los Angeles since 2024 - the exhibition brings together two documentary approaches in which the archive and the narrative itself become a perpetuating practice even without a physical location. A site-specific mural by Fid. Fischer, together with sofas from Saxon youth clubs, a coffee machine and a photocopier, creates a setting in which the IDEAL becomes a salon for an ongoing program of network meetings, discussions and film evenings over the summer months.
Collectives currently without a space are also invited to join us in activating this space with jam sessions, readings and workshops.
The project is funded by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the Cultural Office of the City of Leipzig.
This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.

OPEN END engages with the conditions of artistic self-organization and explores spaces for action against the backdrop of intensifying political (and cultural) shifts and growing pressure on art spaces. At the heart of the accompanying program are possibilities for self-organization, resilience, and structures of solidarity.
The exhibition brings together two documentary approaches: the film archive of Kunstraum Friesenwall 120 (1990-1994), featuring Stephan Dillemuth, and the film THEATER by Calla Henkel & Max Pitegoff, who have been operating NEW THEATER HOLLYWOOD in Los Angeles since 2024. In both cases, even without a physical venue, the archive and the narrative themselves become an ongoing, evolving practice.
A site-specific mural by Fid. Fischer, together with sofas from youth clubs in Saxony, a coffee machine and a photocopier, forms the setting through which IDEAL will transform into a salon over the summer months, hosting an ongoing program of network gatherings, discussions, and film screenings.
Local collectives currently without their own space are also invited to activate this setting together with us through jam sessions, readings, and workshops.
The project is supported by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the Cultural Office of the City of Leipzig. This measure is co-financed by tax revenues based on the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
