Open Lab Abend: 3D-Druck und Lasercutting ausprobieren

In the organizer's words:

This Open Lab evening is all about two particularly exciting tools from the world of digital production: the laser cutter and the 3D printer. You can get to know both machines, try them out and create your own small projects - without any prior knowledge.

What can you expect?

The workshop will take place in drop-in format - that means you can come along at any time between 5 and 8 pm without registering. You will have the opportunity to create your own designs on site, which can then be produced using a laser cutter or 3D print. The workshop leader will support you and answer questions about materials, design and production.

Whether laser cutter or 3D printing - develop your ideas, tinker away and design your own projects!

You can do this on site:

  • Prepare, cut and engrave your own designs for the laser cutter
  • Design your own objects with TinkerCAD and (if possible) print them
  • Try out and experiment with materials
  • Ask questions, try things out, learn new things

What you bring / what we provide:

  • The use of laser cutters, 3D printers and materials is free of charge
  • Your own laptop is an advantage, but not necessary - we have equipment on site
  • Previous knowledge is not necessary - just come along

Note: The productions on the 3D printer and laser cutter take longer. We will give you an insight into the process, but cannot guarantee that all designs can be printed in full on the same evening.

What you will learn:

  • What is a laser cutter? What is a 3D printer?
  • Which materials can be processed?
  • How do I create my own designs?
  • Tips & tricks from practice

Moderation

Amy Graves, studies product design at the Berlin Weißensee School of Art.
