Open Lab Abend: Klangexperimente rund um die Kugelbahn

In the organizer's words:

What do movement, material and sustainability sound like?

The Open Lab evening in the Futurium Lab is all about sound experiments around the marble run in the exhibition. The starting point is the "Kugelbahn" exhibit, which combines physical and acoustic phenomena with the principles of the circular economy.

Together we explore how sound is created from movement and what role materials play in this. The marble run shows how resources can be used multiple times, how materials remain in the cycle and how sustainability and playful experimentation can go hand in hand.

Young people spent several days working intensively with the marble run and developed their own sound experiments. They will present these in this workshop and invite you to think about the experiments together, change them and develop new sound ideas. Participants can become active themselves, try out materials and create their own sound experiments.

Cooperation

  • A cooperation with the Frix Youth Art School and Selbstgebaute Musik.

About self-made music

Self-made music is all kinds of things: Instrument invention platform, artist group, ideas network and also the "Festival for Self-Built Music".

The Selbstgebaute Musik collective experiments with participative performance concepts, installative sound settings, with the most diverse musical material in the most diverse spaces - from the sounds of natural materials, to ship signals as compositional material, from the festival toilet as a singing machine and the city square as a sound library for a live DJ set. Above all, the engagement with musical amateurs in any form plays a very important role; these can be objects and materials, but also the most diverse groups of people.

Self-made music works in different contexts in the field of tension between classical and subcultural structures. These include: Philharmonie Berlin, Artlake Festival, Deutsche Oper, Wilde Möhre Festival, Documenta 1 5, Hamburger Bahnhof, Schaubude Berlin, Futurium and numerous educational institutions. The projects of Selbstgebaute Musik have been supported by the Hauptstadtkulturfonds Berlin, the Musikfonds, the musicboard Berlin, the Projektfonds kulturelle Bildung, the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media and numerous other institutions.

Frix

At the Frix youth art school, children and young people can take advantage of artistic training and experiments both in class and freely in the afternoons. These include the academies, which take place every season. Selbstgebaute Musik has been working with the Frix in various formats for some time now.
