Open Screen 2024

In the organizer's words:

It's finally back! On Friday evening, the Bremen short film evening "Open Screen" by Filmbüro Bremen goes into the next round. As part of the anniversary weekend of the Kommunalkino, the Filmbüro, as a long-standing partner of many formats in the KoKi, cannot be missing! All filmmakers and short film fans who want to see what is being produced in Bremen in a relaxed atmosphere are cordially invited - and are also welcome to offer constructive criticism of the films shown."

Ilona Rieke: "We are very much looking forward to your film submissions, which you can submit by May 27 via download link/WeTransfer or similar: rieke@filmbuero-bremen.de. This time, for technical reasons, spontaneous participation on the evening (by bringing a hard disk or similar) is unfortunately not possible."

Fictional, documentary, animated, experimental and music videos are all welcome at the Open Screen short film event. Everything that is submitted (with the exception of advertising, propaganda, etc.) will be shown mercilessly and without curation on one condition: the filmmakers must be present on the evening, as there will be short talks between the films and the audience is also explicitly allowed to give praise and criticism and ask questions. All films should have a connection to Bremen in terms of team, content or location (or more than one of these!). We are particularly pleased to welcome new works, but old gems that have not been shown on Bremen screens for a while are also very welcome.

On the Open Screen evening, anyone - with or without film expertise - can show their film on the big screen. The only requirement is a maximum film length of 10 minutes.

Both participation and admission are always free at this event!

The Filmbüro Bremen has always been an important partner for joint projects, be it cinema premieres of funded films, some of which have Bremen themes; events with analog technology such as the Super 8 Evening or smaller festivals and competitions such as the Open Screen Evening today.
