The PalaisPopulaire building has a varied history. In GDR times, it was a café that developed into a sophisticated, "cosmopolitan" cult venue with its trendy club nights. Disco and dancing to hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B were the order of the day here almost every night. Regulars, DJs and artists, including Thomas Glass (aka Tute), Oliver Marquardt, Wolfram Neugebauer, Heidi Ramskugler and Abini Zöllner, who often partied here back then, tell us how special it was in East Berlin, how cheerful and rebellious the parties were here and how people got into the club in the first place.
