Opernsalon: Frau mit Schatten

In the run-up to the performance "Lulu " on May 16 and 17 at the Schaubühne Lindenfels

What does it mean when historical material becomes a living, contemporary artistic process? How can dominant narrative structures be deconstructed and what alternative narrative forms emerge in the process? What remains of a production at the end, and what traces does artistic work leave behind in the archive? What role do temporality, memory and imagination play in artistic practice?

The opera salon with Lulu Obermayer is dedicated to these and other questions. The internationally active artist works at the intersection of opera, theater, performance art and dance. She interweaves facts and anecdotes from theater history and performs female positions. In doing so, she poses fundamental questions about the ability to act and perform on stage. In doing so, she uses the European canon as a source of friction and opens up spaces for new narrative styles. In the solo performance "Lulu" , she explores her namesake, a figure who is at once a myth, a projection screen and a distorted image of male fantasies.

In the Opernsalon, Lulu Obermayer will give an insight into her artistic practice, present her research work and talk about working processes, material collections and artistic decisions. In a small interactive exhibition, you can move through selected sources yourself.

After an impulse by Lulu Obermayer, we look forward to an open discussion with the audience, moderated by Lydia Wilinski and Jil Kohlschein.
