Brazil, 1977: Marcelo, a technology enthusiast in his early 40s, is trying to make a fresh start in Recife. In the midst of the exuberant carnival celebrations, he moves to the picturesque port city, meets his young son again and hopes to leave the shadows of his past behind him. But the apparent idyll is deceptive. Marcelo is plagued by death threats and feels increasingly watched by his neighbors. The tense atmosphere leaves him no peace. When agents finally show up to persecute him for subversive activities, he realizes that Recife is not a safe place for him either. The violence of the military regime reaches further than he ever imagined.
