Outtakes Cinema: Growing up/ DIY in East Germany?!
In the organizer's words:
Outtakes Cinema x Frachtkante x Mangel Records invites you to the first film screening in Tegel with: "Stau - Jetzt geht's los"
Thomas Heise's film follows five right-wing extremist youths in Halle-Neustadt in the early 1990s and shows the uncertainty, disorientation and social upheavals of the post-reunification period. Without commentary or judgment, the film lets its protagonists speak for themselves and thus becomes a haunting contemporary document about lost perspectives, family conflicts and the rise of right-wing violence in East Germany.
Before the screening, we meet Mangel Records at the Frachtkante, on the site of the former Tegel Airport, between a cultural site and a new beginning. We ask the DIY punk label what spaces music, art and culture can create: against isolation, against right-wing appropriation and against the feeling of having no place. What does it mean today to stand against something? And what are art, music and collective structures trying to overcome?
The focus is on punk as a form of protest arising from the desire for independence and as a way of countering social conditions with something of one's own.
And what can "Here we go" mean today?
Come along and bring your friends. There will be snacks and drinks in the old canteen at Tegel Airport supported by @boller.laden and @frachtkante
