Setting the scene ablaze, the raw and impetuous Overkill have returned to maltreat your ears with their twentieth, yes, that's right, twentieth studio album "Scorched". For over three and a half decades, their insane brand of thrash has produced some of the most striking moments in the world of metal. Now, in the second half of their career, all that experience shows with "Scorched", which somehow sounds more mature, refined and with hints of more than just thrash metal.

Starting the writing process right at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic provoked not only inspiration, but also the ability to go through the album making process with ease and without pressure. Taking over two and a half years to complete, "Scorched" absorbed every ounce of energy from the ups and downs of daily life and contemporary turbulence.

The end result is something born out of heaviness, wisdom and massive, melodic energy. The title track is an explosive representation of a 35-year history of burning things along with The Surgeon, which is also Overkill 101. Beginning with the classic DD Verni bass run, it breaks into machine gun vocals that race with the guitar to see who gets tired first. There's also an unmistakable bluesy element that develops strongly in certain songs. Tracks like "Wicked Place" and "Fever" feel like old rock 'n' roll.
