passing winter with David Lynch: Eraserhead

In the organizer's words:

One year ago, David Lynch, one of the most mysterious and creative filmmakers in the history of the silver screen, passed away.

That's why we've decided to revisit the work of this great artist with you. Over the rest of this winter, we'll be showing you Lynch's great classics and taking you on a journey of wonder, horror and amazement.

We start with: Eraserhead!

Good-natured but naive printer Henry Spencer is plunged into a nightmare when he learns in his bleak, industrialized home that his ex-girlfriend Mary has given birth to a child after an extremely short pregnancy. The pregnancy has left the child deformed and misshapen, more alien than human.

Nevertheless, Henry and Mary take it upon themselves to raise the child. But Mary is not up to the pressure. She runs away, leaving Henry alone with the eerie offspring. As Henry becomes increasingly overwhelmed by the situation, he is threatened with a mental breakdown. The boundaries between reality and imagination become increasingly blurred and immense hallucinations creep into his everyday life.

Life with the child becomes a torture for him until he sees only one way out...
