Patrick V. Mabiala Trio – Eine neue Jazzbewegung – Jazz / Congo Bop

Congo Bop is more than a musical style - it is a new jazz language. An eclectic fusion of musical elements ranging from bebop, swing and classical music to seben (soukous) from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Powerful vamps, melodic freedom and rhythmic complexity are typical of this up-and-coming style.

Particular attention is paid to the electric bass, which in Congo Bop breaks away from traditional "walking bass" patterns and emphasizes percussive techniques and expressive grooves. The intense interplay between bass and solo instrument creates lively musical dialogs, while the drums complement and deepen the interaction - creating a dynamic, danceable and at the same time profound sound.

"Our aim is to facilitate access to jazz for young African and international musicians and to inspire them to go their own way," says Patrick V. Mabiala. Congo Bop is intended to be a platform - for cultural exchange, musical discoveries and creative freedom.

The trio's music is both a reflection of the political reality in Congo and an expression of unshakeable joie de vivre. It tells of pain and hope, of movement and connection. Congo Bop is experience turned into sound.
