Born and raised in the Westerwald in 1998, saxophonist Paul Vincent Scheugenpflug completed his bachelor's degree in jazz saxophone with distinction at the University of Music in Nuremberg. Since 2022, he has been studying for the first ever big band master's degree in "Playing" in Frankfurt in close collaboration with the hr-Bigband.
He stands out in particular as a bandleader. As such, he won the "Bruno-Rother Memorial Scholarship" with the band "Zollbeamte" in 2019 and 2020 and with the duo "2-Zoll" in 2021. He forms a duo with pianist Lukas Langguth, founded his own quartet (PSQ) in 2021, plays as a sideman in various other ensembles and was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Youth Big Band from 2017-2022. This took him on concert tours to France, Rwanda, Finland and the USA, among other places.
