Born and raised in the Westerwald in 1998, saxophonist Paul Vincent Scheugenpflug completed his bachelor's degree in jazz saxophone with distinction at the University of Music in Nuremberg. Since 2022, he has been studying for the first ever big band master's degree in "Playing" in Frankfurt in close collaboration with the hr-Bigband.
He stands out in particular as a bandleader. As such, he won the "Bruno-Rother Memorial Scholarship" with the band "Zollbeamte" in 2019 and 2020 and with the duo "2-Zoll" in 2021. He forms a duo with pianist Lukas Langguth, founded his own quartet (PSQ) in 2021, plays as a sideman in various other ensembles and was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Youth Big Band from 2017-2022. This took him on concert tours to France, Rwanda, Finland and the USA, among other places. Meanwhile, he also gained experience as a substitute with MOOP MAMA, in big bands such as the hr-Bigband and the famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. He also won the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship in 2023 with the jazz collective "FÄZZ", which was founded in the same year, and started a concert series in 2024 with guests such as Veronika Morscher, Oliver Leicht, Oliver Rubow, Sebastian Sternal and Stefan Karl Schmid.
He was recently awarded the Rhineland-Palatinate 2024 Newcomer Jazz Prize. In the same year, he won both 2nd prize and the audience award at the international Biberach Jazz Prize with his duo partner Lukas Langguth. In 2025, he will also receive the Dörkenstiftung performance scholarship as part of the "Jazz@undesigned" award.

Scheugenpflug has been a saxophone teacher at the Open Jazz House School in Cologne since the summer of 2023 and teaches saxophone, flute and clarinet.

On and off the stages of this world, he has worked with musicians such as Michael Mossmann, Dennis Mackrel, Erik van Lier, Jim McNeely, Darcy James Argue, John Hollenbeck, Dick Oatts and Nikki Iles.
