Persona by Ingmar Bergman is an intense intimate play about identity. It centers on two women: the actress Elisabet Vogler, who suddenly falls silent, and the young nurse Alma, who takes care of her. In a remote summer house, Alma begins to reveal more and more about herself, while Elisabet remains silent. But the more Alma talks and Elisabet remains silent, the more the boundaries between the two women become blurred. A complex relationship develops between them - closeness, dependence, power and ultimately their personalities merge.

Persona is not a classic film with a clear plot, but a multi-layered psychodrama about identity, communication, truth and roles. Bergman experiments with cinematic means and allows reality and illusion to flow into one another. The film poses more questions than it answers and therefore remains fascinating to this day.
