What does a better society look like - and where is it already being lived? "Perspektive Ost" sets out in search of answers. In Saxony, Thuringia, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 28 initiatives were visited that are committed to a solidary, democratic society on a daily basis. From the feminist forum* in Görlitz and the migrant radio station speakl_out in Chemnitz to the Omas gegen Rechts in Magdeburg and the AK40 sociocultural center in Suhl - they all show that utopias are not empty words: Utopias are not just empty words, but lived practice. The result is a 30-minute documentary film and a comprehensive magazine that combines local voices, interviews and academic perspectives. The projects provide inspiring insights into how an open, just future is being worked on in rural eastern Germany. What does a social perspective mean in the East? What does democratic action based on solidarity look like in concrete terms? Which utopias are already being realized today - and what can we learn from them? "Perspektive Ost" invites you to take a look, have a say and take action. For a future that does not remain utopian - but becomes real.
