How bacteria shape us humans and influence nature
Peter Wohlleben opens up an exciting world for us: an understanding of organisms that are invisible to the naked eye, but control the destiny of mankind. They are not just practical everyday helpers - without bacteria there would be no yoghurt, no salami and no sauerkraut - and live on our skin, tongue or in our intestines, but in each of our body cells, where they control us according to their needs. The author shows that we are made of bacteria and how strongly they shape us, for example through the production of hormones that influence our moods. He explains how they support us in coping with the climate crisis. And that we should cooperate with them and show consideration for them so that they and we are well.

Peter Wohlleben, born in 1964, was already interested in biology and nature conservation as a child. After 30 years as a forester, he founded the Forest Academy in 2016, where he works as a lecturer. He is in constant contact with experts and scientists. His worldwide success "The Secret Life of Trees" was groundbreaking for their understanding. Most recently, the bestseller "Buchenleben" was published.
