LE PARADOXE DE JOHN evokes memories of the early plays of French director Philippe Quesne, who is able to create entire worlds out of quiet moments like no other. In 2007, L'EFFET DE SERGE introduced audiences to a nerdy loner who stages small performances for his friends in his apartment. LE PARADOXE DE JOHN, which Kampnagel is presenting as a German premiere, opens a new chapter in the Quesne universe: a group of friends experience adventures while setting up an art gallery. The audience witnesses a polyphonic composition for humans and non-human beings, visual and poetic inventions. Accompanied by the dreamlike poetry of Laura Vazquez, LE PARADOXE DE JOHN shows a small community from a slightly displaced universe that questions the role of art in everyday life with humor and melancholy - a deeply human theater of closeness, gentle, surprising and with the unmistakable poetry that Quesne's fans appreciate worldwide.
