Whistling, clapping, invented sounds, rhythms, code words - what does connectedness sound like? How do we recognize the people who are closest to us?
This performance is for joining in. Registration possible soon
The artist Li Binyuan invites families, friends and other groups of connected people to a unique ritual: For 30 minutes at a time, participants enter a shared "place", put on blindfolds and navigate solely by the sounds they share - those intuitive calls that you only exchange with someone who has held you, challenged you or made you feel a sense of belonging. These bonds form the inner maps that we carry within us and continue to shape how we meet today.
Together, we will transform the foyer of the Humboldt Forum into a temporary plaza: a place where private memories become public, where accents become a form of kinship and where silent listening forms a counterweight to the visual noise of the present.
We are looking for participants:
- Two people per family/group
- Willingness to be blindfolded and to communicate exclusively through personal sounds
- All backgrounds, generations, languages and relationships are welcome. Plaza celebrates diversity in sound, identity and connection.
- Saturday (24.01.2026) focuses on mother-child and father-child relationships. This is not limited to biological relationships, but includes everyone who feels maternal or paternal to each other.
- Sunday (25.01.2026) is open to all who wish to participate with their loved ones, without archetypes or thematic guidelines.
Plaza is a quiet revolution - a celebration of how deeply we know each other, even without seeing. Join us and create a vibrant map of sound, caring and connection.
- free of charge
- from 6 years
- Foyer, ground floor
- Belongs to: Family relationships
