Poetry Slam

In the organizer's words:

Four poets who give words wings

It has been quiet for a long time, but now the poetry slam is finally returning to Ludwigshafen: we are opening our stage to powerful words, passionate performances and thought-provoking poetry.

This time, four poets will take to the stage to express their creativity and emotions in the format of a poetry slam. The slam is part of our new series in which we want to offer a stage to poetry slammers from all over Germany. Taking part this time are:

Dominik Bartels

Dominik Bartels is an author, poetry slammer, presenter and a true Usedom island child. His stories and books have been published by Verlag Neues Leben, Eulenspiegel Verlag, Lektora Verlag, Satyr Verlag and others. He can look back on over 1,000 appearances in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Estonia. In 2011, he won the ARTE culture channel's web slam. In 2014, he reached the semi-finals of the German-speaking championships in Dresden. He also likes animals and can stand on his head.

"Dominik Bartels is known for his light-footed melancholy" (WAZ)

Uli Höhmann

Uli Höhmann does stuff on stage - mostly satirical, critical of the times, funny, often angry, sometimes loud. When he's not on stage, he writes children's podcasts and makes stuff for the radio, because he's also a journalist, which he explores in his press cabaret "Gab's Tote?". He became Hesse's state poetry slam champion in 2023 and runner-up in 2024. Together with Jan Cönig, he hosts the reading stage "Lisa kommt nicht" in Frankfurt am Main and Oberursel.

Marina Sigl

Marina Sigl was born in the Black Forest in 1996. She studied Chemistry and German at the University of Konstanz from 2014-2020. Since her stage debut, she can look back on over 250 appearances at poetry slams and science slams as well as various championships. She also works as a workshop leader on the topics of poetry slam, rhetoric and performance. Marina Sigl has already been published in various anthologies and appeared as a "court poet" on the ProSieben dating show Love is King. There she introduced the participants to stylish expression.

Her slam texts reflect everyday life and social issues with a double wink and humorously expose grievances and personal misconduct. Sometimes lyrical, sometimes funny, she always provides an original perspective on the big and small things in life.

Valo Christiansen

Valo Christiansen (all neopronomen) is a freelanceeditor, sensitivity reader, authorand slam poet. Valo studied linguistics with a focus on Romance languages, sociolinguistics and multilingualism and has in-depth knowledge of gender-sensitive language. After several years in academic editing, Valo now also offers sensitivity reading with an own-voice perspective on topics such as autism, ADHD, non-binary, queerness and various queer identities. In his free time, Valo can often be found swimming, bouldering or learning languages. On stage, Valo inspires with impressive lyrics between political clarity and poetic power. As a non-binary person, Valo actively campaigns for more visibility and inclusion.
