Polis stands for extravagant poetry, huge 70s riff walls, jams and sprawling arrangements. With lots of vintage instruments on stage - above all a real Hammond B3 organ, old amplifiers and vintage synths. A lot of Krautrock is part of Polis' music as well as psychedelic and elements of progressive rock. With this unique sound, Polis have already played festivals such as Burg Herzberg, the Aquamaria Festival, the Artrock Festival in Reichenbach and Woodstock Forever.
They evolved from the playful, bluesy prog rock of their 2011 debut album EINS to the more epic and song-like sound of their 2014 sophomore album SEIN, which introduced a romantic, fragile side to their music. This was followed by concerts at home and abroad and airplay on Deutschlandradio Kultur and Radio R.SA, among others. The release of their third album WELTKLANG in spring 2020 marked a clear turning point in the band's work. It was recorded in the self-built studio of the same name, mixed and mastered at Peter Gabriel's creative home, Real World Studios in Box, England.
The band's first live album, "Unterwegs I", was released at the end of last year to unanimous praise in the trade press.
