In August with "The silent satellites"

As the largest monument in Europe, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations is not only one of the most visited tourist attractions in Leipzig, it is also one of the most prominent landmarks in the trade fair city. For many Leipzig residents, the monument and its park are also a popular place for adventure and recreation. For all those who do not want to climb the steps of the monument giant, but prefer to linger on them, we have created a new format together with the Battle of the Nations Monument Foundation. As part of the "Pop-Up Staircase Cinema at the Monument to the Battle of the Nations", two selected films with a Leipzig connection will be shown against an impressive backdrop in August and September.

The silent satellites
These are quiet encounters on the outskirts of the city that, away from the city lights, allow us to forget the heaviness of everyday life for a moment. Night after night, the inconspicuous return to the places of their longing: snack bar owner Jens falls in love with his neighbor Aischa over a night-time cigarette in the stairwell, while security guard Erik develops feelings for young Marika on his routine tour of the hostel for foreigners. Cleaner Christa also seeks solace with hairdresser Birgitt at the end of her shift. Three stories, one common wish: a spark of love, a touch of affection and a feeling of security.
