Possible Islands

In their exhibition Possible Islands , photo artists Jewgeni Roppel and Karsten Kronas bring together landscapes of psychological states - places between longing and retreat, euphoria and isolation, control and dissolution.

The idea of an island does not appear as a geographical space, but as a projection surface for human needs: as utopia, a place of escape, discovery, projection or the promise of another self.

Jewgeni Roppel and Karsten Kronas examine the medium of photography in the context of various techniques and experiments. In their joint exhibition, the two artists focus on the concept of time as a postmodern, non-linear concept. For them, time is a unifying element, a parameter in the perception or assessment of human relationships, which - like photographs - can be characterized by imperfections, changes and irritations. In a fluid, intradisciplinary way, the two photo artists invite you into the nachtspeicher23 as a guest space in which processes of transformation can be experienced through experimental visual worlds.
