Power Strangers - touching the not yet

Power Strangers - touching the not yet

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

PowerStrangers - touching the not yet - is an immersive physical theater production with integrated, creative audio description.

In PowerStrangers, we look at our coexistence in the future tense II:
Who will we have been? What will be left of us? And then we ask: Who do we want to have been? What utopias of community will we find?

To this end, we visit liminal places in the Ruhr region: Brownfields, railroad stations, slagheaps, interstitial spaces and vacant lots. These places-in-transition, with their inscribed memories, their empty spaces, their undescribed future, offer potential for our community.

We dig in the soil, feel the stories, invent the forgotten, take a bird's eye view, listen to the bustle of the train station, dance at bus stops at night. On the wastelands, we encounter ourselves in time.

PowerStrangers is about the transofrmative potential of "liminality". Liminality describes a state, a place, a time or a feeling of being in-between or a border area. Liminal spaces are, for example, anthropogenic places that are empty of people. We want to examine them as liminal and in-between spaces, as spaces of change and innovation, where everything seems possible and which are constantly in flux. The liminal state is not a fixed, but a fluctuating state of suspension.

In PowerStrangers, the liminal border, intermediate and transit spaces of the Ruhr region are translated into text surfaces, music, video art and, last but not least, an immersive meeting space.

"Sticky Fragments - In good Company" is a transdisciplinary physical theater group based in the Ruhr area with a focus on the aesthetics of access. The team, consisting of Meret König, Valentin Schwerdfeger and Carla Wyrsch, is in good company with collaborators from various disciplines, depending on the project.

"Sticky Fragments" can be found at sticky interfaces: between physical theater and visual arts, digitality and devising, performance and rehearsal, research and laughter. The works are always created by their own authors and combine intensive artistic research with playfulness and humor. In terms of content, the company always sticks to queer-feminist and anti-capitalist themes and tries to dream up new futures.

Since 2023, the "Sticky Fragments" have developed three plays with integrated, creative audio description in collaboration with Access dramaturge Sabine Kuxdorf. Most recently, the production "Minor Glitch" was shown at Barnes Crossing e.V. in Cologne.

PowerStrangers is aimed at an intergenerational audience aged fourteen and over. With the practice of Aesthetics of Access, where accessibility is integrated into the art production from the outset with an artistic claim, PowerStrangers is to be made equally accessible to blind, visually impaired and sighted audiences. To this end, we are collaboratively developing a creative, integrated audio description and creating a multi-sensory, virtually expanded stage space.
