The optimistic, cheerful student Lena (Luna Wedler), enrolled in German studies and puppetry, takes on a job as a writing therapist on behalf of the "Office for Peace and Order". However, there is only one participant in her course: Hugo Drowak (Karl Markovics), a lonely, old misanthrope full of hatred, an alcoholic who has hunkered down among his empty bottles - and who doesn't seem very approachable.
But Lena is not deterred by this. Her spirited ambition unexpectedly awakens Drowak's literary talent. Lena is enchanted by his poetry about love and magic. And the deeper Drowak delves into his memories, the more repressed demons awaken in him. Lena fights to protect Drowak from himself and to help him believe in the good things in life again.
