A long, long time ago, when the gods still reigned in Japan, the wild Princess Mononoke lived with the wolves in a huge forest. But the peaceful coexistence of humans and animals is under threat: civilization continues to eat its way into nature. Iron weapons are forged for the first time, guns whose bullets can penetrate the armor of a samurai. Now the humans want to overthrow the old order once and for all and hunt down the mighty forest god. The animals, however, refuse to surrender without a fight and gather for one last great battle. The young warrior Ashitaka is caught in the middle of this deadly conflict. He and Mononoke find themselves caught between the fronts - and only in their hands lies the power to avert the impending catastrophe...
