General description:

International dance, music theater and performance festival for young audiences

From July 5 to 13, 2024, the THINK BIG! festival celebrates its 10th birthday. Families, school classes, teachers and all curious young and old audience members will have the opportunity to marvel, laugh, shake a leg, pause and reflect at over 30 moving events. Artists from all over the world present their plays in the Schauburg and the schwere reiter, in the HochXund in the Münchner Kammerspiele, in the Muffathalle, in the Fat Cat, in schools and in the open air.

Play description:

Light falls on a transparent thing with many surfaces and edges and is magically distributed throughout the room. It shines where there was no light before, in colors that did not exist before. As a symbol of the diversity of perceptions, the collective around Rotem Weissman deals with the effect of prisms. These scatter information in a variety of ways and always contain a spark of magic. Prisma" began with various children's books in which fascinating worlds open up. For example, a fuzzy creature appears, of which it is difficult to say exactly where up and down is, whether it wants to be a plant or an animal or something in between. Everyone in the audience will discover something different here! As in a daydream, situations and objects are decoupled from their familiar meaning and new contexts are created. This creates other worlds that want to be explored.

Israeli-born choreographer Rotem Weissman plays with the exchange between the concrete body and abstract imagination. After training as a dancer, she studied choreography at the SEAD in Salzburg. Residencies and scholarships have taken her to Studio Alta (Czech Republic), Tanz Station (DE), the Mifal Hapais Cultural Foundation and Dis-Tanz Solo. Her production "Bauhaus" was awarded second prize at the International Choreography Competition in Jerusalem.
