Melbourne's Private Function have spent the last seven years building a reputation as one of Australia's most explosive, unpredictable and unmissable rock'n'roll bands. Their reputation on and off stage and their crazy marketing ideas have always preceded them. Fueled by an explosive mix of cheeky repartee, nostalgia-tinged jokes and a rebellious charm that is refined with the grandeur of rock and the pageantry of roll, Private Function's passionate fan base should come as no surprise to even the most casual observer. Their loyal followers ride the Private Function wave relentlessly, accelerating their cult-driven rise to the top. From up here, the two-time ARIA chart-toppers ("Whose Line Is It Anyway?" at #9, "370HSSV 0773H" at #11) are unmistakably claiming their place, having made a name for themselves with their creative and controversial approach to music since their inception in 2016. Their debut EP "Six Smokin' Songs" caused a stir by depicting Bryan Curtis - the face of Australia's anti-smoking campaign - in a near-death state until he heard the band's music. The first 3000 vinyl copies of their third studio album included a scratchcard cover where the winner won a signed test pressing of the album, $2999 in cash and a photo of their face on all future pressings of the album. In addition, Private Function released a special vinyl version of the album, which they filled with urine from the band members and was limited to 50 copies. So if you want to be prepared for a few surprises, you should definitely come to one of the Australian band's five shows in May.
