He is one of Germany's best-known doctors, has written numerous books on health, and has given tips and advice in countless interviews and columns. From September 2023, Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer will also be bringing health to the stage: with his "Fit to 100" program, he not only wants to impart dry medical knowledge, but also to encourage people to lead active lives themselves. And all this in the special way that distinguishes Prof. Grönemeyer - with heart and humor.
"Get off the sofa - exercise makes you fit, smart and happy" is the motto. The program is informative, entertaining and at the same time - in the truest sense of the word - moving. "Health is 60 percent personal responsibility. And that is a question of the internal attitude", says Professor Grönemeyer, "I would like to show humans that they can do also with little expenditure more for their health - and thus for their well-being".
The 90-minute program deals with the back and joints as well as nutrition and stress reduction - in other words, a wide range of topics, presented and translated into understandable words. What helps me when my back is aching? What positive effects can a power nap (it used to be called a "midday nap") have? How can I strengthen my immune system? Prof. Grönemeyer explains the connections, supported by short clips, and at the same time shows how small exercises for health can be easily integrated into everyday life. And in a very practical way. "People can, may and should join in," is Prof. Grönemeyer's wish. He wants to convey the fun of taking care of one's own health. And thus strengthen self-motivation at the same time.
"Meditainment" -
a combination of medicine and entertainment
Prof. Grönemeyer has always taken a variety of approaches to explain his heartfelt topic of medicine and prepare the groundwork for health education. This includes the "Fit to 100" series, which can best be described as "meditainment" - a combination of medicine and entertainment. "With everything I do, I want to help create conditions for a healthy and satisfied life," he says, explaining his motivation. To this end, he is committed on many levels. He is a champion for the synthesis of high-tech conventional medicine and naturopathy. One who stands for the teamwork of the various medical disciplines as well as for the holistic perception of body, soul and spirit. As a person who thinks and acts in terms of health policy, he has repeatedly given impulses for the further development of medicine. With the term "world medicine", which he coined, he draws attention to the possibilities of a holistic art of healing.
