Psychic Liberation (PL) is a label founded in 2013, originally run by Miguel Alvariño under the title Primitive Languages as a cassette and record store project in New York City. Since 2019, it has been run solo by Nick Klein under the name Psychic Liberation from the EU.

The concert series of the same name takes place in the Kuppelhalle with changing guests.

Lisa Ullén
Lisa Ullén is one of Sweden's most influential pianists in the free jazz and improvisation scene as well as in contemporary music.

I make music that doesn't really belong to any known genre, but moves between, through and outside different idioms - jazz, new music and more - until a genre of its own emerges. This music stems from the experience of not really belonging anywhere, of standing between identities and traditions; music that takes up melodic and rhythmic fragments but refuses to settle down in pre-existing forms of expression. - Lisa Ullén

Ullén was born in Seoul and grew up in the north of Sweden. In 2018, she was awarded the prestigious "Jazz Composer of the Year" prize by Swedish Radio. She lives and works in Berlin and Stockholm.

Jiyoung Wi
Jiyoung Wi will present a performance that understands improvisation as a form of "negative virtuosity". It focuses on the dynamics between control (and its failure), chance and the continuous redefinition of physical boundaries. Jiyoung Wi (she/her) is a musician, improviser and writer of fictional texts who divides her time between Rotterdam and Seoul.

Her polarized practice explores narrative possibilities in non-image-based media. She has developed a series of "sound fiction" works that explore the careful interaction between sound and text. A self-critiquing improviser, she confronts the thresholds of sonic immediacy through her negative virtuosity and risky gestures.
