Nurse Prabha shares an apartment in Mumbai with her colleague Anu. Prabha is estranged from her husband, who lives in Germany, but forbids herself from seeing other men. Instead, she throws herself into work. Meanwhile, the carefree Anu is looking for a place in the city where she can be intimate with her lover. One day, Prabha and Anu go on a trip to the sea. There they find a space of freedom that helps the women realize their dreams.

In atmospheric images and with great sensitivity, Indian director Payal Kapadia accompanies her protagonists through their everyday lives. Her feature film delivers a truthful, poetic and beguiling portrait of women's lives caught between the pursuit of autonomy, self-determined love and the shackles of tradition. It is rare to leave the cinema so inspired by the magic of a movie.
