Queer shorts await you on this evening!

In a world between gender identities and changing body images, it's time to take a new approach to the "Coming of Age" genre. Young, loud and queer short films will be shown. Afterwards, you are cordially invited to stay for the subsequent film discussion with the filmmakers Luka Lara Steffen and Gina Wenzel and help shape the conversation.

As individual as the life stories of the four Black queer people portrayed in this film are, they are united by growing up in a conservative and religious home.

Luca portrays a young actor and dancer who has never been interested in gender roles. The viewer gets an idea of Luca's convictions, his longing for freedom and his struggle on the way there.

DON'T CALL ME BROTHER

Cheyenne plays soccer and hangs out with her friend's clique, which is mainly about drinking and rowdiness. One day, Dany joins the training session. When Cheyenne finds out his secret, she acts without thinking.

DER FLUR is a Dortmund-based studio and cinema collective that has been organizing short film evenings with a focus on diversity since 2023. For the Liquid Currency Bar programme, the collective is leaving its venue, the "Flur" in the Kreuzviertel district, and presenting a three-part queer film programme at the Kunstverein that gives marginalized people a voice and a space.
