This evening is dedicated to the visibility and empowerment of queer voices in the publishing landscape. At a time when there are more ways than ever to share our perspectives, the session explores the importance and complexity of queer publishing in the now.
What kind of spaces are opened up by queer publications and digital media? How do these platforms navigate the tensions between subcultural guerrilla practices and the established (mainstream) media landscape? Where do we see potential and where do we encounter limits?
We will also take a look back at historical forms of queer publishing: What formats and strategies were developed in the past - and what can we learn from them?
Finally, we want to reflect on the changing conditions of publishing in the digital age: Do new media formats create competition or do they instead expand the spectrum of queer forms of expression?
We are pleased to welcome Sonja Eismann (Missy Magazine), Giuseppina Lettieri (Spinnboden Lesbenarchiv / Queer History Month), Melania Swiontek Brzezinski (freelance journalist, podcast host Queerly Beloved and migratöchter, SWR) and Jessica Walter (cultural and literary scholar, Schwules Museum Berlin) as participants in the third roundtable of Series Q. Lara Hansen (Siegessäule) will moderate the evening.
KuK-Tuesdays: Series Q ends with Evidence of Ephemeral (15.7.2025).
The events are free of charge and the discussions will be held in English. Afterwards, we invite you to a drink, which offers the opportunity to continue the exchange in an informal atmosphere.
