Queer Walk: Eine Reise durch queere und feministische Geschichte

Queer Walk: Eine Reise durch queere und feministische Geschichte

In the organizer's words:

Queerness and feminism are power topics today - they stand for diversity, courage and justice. But creating queer spaces? That used to be a real battle against windmills. Many districts in Hamburg tell queer stories - not just St. Paul, St. Georg or Neustadt as queer hotspots.

On our tour you will experience queer and feminist voices:

Together with the AStA Queer-Referat and DENKtRÄUME, we will go on a journey through time in Eimsbüttel: We start at the University of Hamburg, where the AStA Queer-Referat has been a permanent contact point for queer students for over 30 years. Its history reflects both the struggle for visibility and internal conflicts - from the gay and lesbian department to today's queer department. Representatives report on three decades of eventful history!

Afterwards, we will explore the topics of the women's movement and current discourses with DENKtRÄUME, a women's education center from the second women's movement. We will also learn how Hamburg's women's and lesbian scene came to terms with National Socialism. Both initiatives will accompany us on our foray, taking turns telling stories and inviting us to join in the discussion - a lively exchange with a final stop near Schulterblatt.

Who can take part:

Anyone who wants to discover queerfeminist perspectives can register and start walking - we look forward to seeing you!

About the speakers:

The Queer-Referat is a student space by queer students for queer students and non-students. It offers everyone, regardless of their romantic, sexual and/or gender identity, a non-judgmental space for free development. The aim is for everyone to feel comfortable there without fear of being discriminated against.

DENKtRÄUME has been archiving and documenting knowledge on women's* and gender issues in a variety of forms - from books and magazines to digital databases - since 1983. In addition to providing this extensive pool of information, the organization is actively involved in public debates through events, lectures and readings. Another central concern is the networking of women* through cooperation and the provision of spaces for initiatives.

About the organizers:

The workshop is a cooperation between polbi hamburg and the Eimsbüttel left-wing parliamentary group. polbi hamburg is committed to lively and diverse political education in Hamburg - or in short: for a colorful polbi. The initiative is run by non-partisan volunteers. The workshop is funded by the Left Party and takes place as part of the Month of Remembrance in Eimsbüttel. Also take part in our podcast, room design or Instagram workshop!

About the Month of Remembrance in Eimsbüttel:

The Month of Remembrance in Eimsbüttel (April 20 to June 4) is taking place for the 12th time this year. It is organized by the Eimsbüttel district office, the International Auschwitz Committee and other initiatives and stands for the remembrance of the victims of Nazi persecution. The month is a clear commitment to democracy and human rights. Together, the victims of Nazi persecution are commemorated with tours, readings, concerts, exhibitions and other events. The aim is to set an example against hatred, racism and exclusion and to encourage a critical examination of the past and present.
