QUEERHISTORYMONTH

QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1 to 31, 2026(www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events as part of the festival will bring the history(ies) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome - kings, queers, queens, allies, friends, families (of choice) and everyone in between and beyond!

The event

The award-winning documentary portrays six lesbian women in the GDR.

The award-winning documentary Uferfrauen portrays six lesbian women who lived and loved in the GDR. The film sensitively lets the protagonists have their say, telling their life stories in an open and honest way.

Praised by the critics, awarded the debut prize from the Queerscope Association and the Audience Award of the Lesbian-Gay Film Festival Hamburg (now the Hamburg International Queer Film Festival).

The director and one of the protagonists will be present. A discussion will take place afterwards.
