QUEERHISTORYMONTH

QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1 to 31, 2026(www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events as part of the festival will bring the history(ies) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome - kings, queers, queens, allies, friends, families (of choice) and everyone in between and beyond!

The event

A space of shared memory is being created in Hinterconti: the 2003 Tuntenolympiade, queer interventions and political struggles will be brought to life from different perspectives and linked to current issues - an open project between past, present and future impulses for action.

A project of shared remembrance in Hinterconti, with a focus on the Tuntenolmypiade, which took place in 2003 on the square in front of the Rote Flora. The precursor to this project was a residency by Blessless at Hinterconti 2022, during which we spent an afternoon collecting and sifting through materials and digitally mapping initial items.

We will play the Hinterconti on Friday and Saturday and invite representatives of the participating queer communities and people from the audience at the time to take part in the joint remembrance.

The space will be open from midday until the early evening. The focus will not only be on the event itself, but also on the subjective and spatial references of the protagonists, the history of this intervention, as well as the political space at that time (the protest against the eviction of the Bambule construction site and against the right-wing populist Schill Party) and other forms of public interventions and queer activities in this context.

And while remembering also shapes what happened, it will also be about what impulses we can gain from this for present and future queer action.

The event is free of charge. Registration is not required.

The event is not barrier-free. There are four steps from the street to the exhibition space on the mezzanine floor. The toilet in the basement is only accessible via a staircase.
