radio3 Atelier Talk: Was ist Zeit? Das, was wir erleben - oder nur, was wir messen?

Once a month, Berlin-based artists, scientists, and members of the public gather for the radio3 Atelier Talk to discuss everything from paints and brushes to digital sketches—right in the heart of Kreuzberg—and you can join in live:

Five minutes on the Ferris wheel, five minutes at the dentist for a root canal—the same amount of time, two completely different worlds. What time really is, how we perceive and evaluate it, and what would happen if we measured it differently— is the topic of discussion for host Siham El-Maimouni in the ninth edition of the radio3 Atelier Talk with neuroscientist Dr. Torben Ott and artists Alicja Kwade and Fiete Stolte.

Dr. Torben Ott researches how the brain calculates the value of time and how neural processes influence our relationship with time. In her work, the internationally renowned conceptual artist Alicja Kwade explores time, space, and the foundations of our reality—among other things, by dismantling clocks, multiplying them, and making them run against each other. Fiete Stolte developed an alternative time system with eight days per week and 21-hour days and explored artistically how temporal structures shape our lives.

Together they ask: What is time, really? How does our sense of duration, pace, and the future arise? How does our brain determine the value of time? Who decides how time is measured and organized? And how can art and science help change our perspective on what is perhaps the most precious resource in our lives?
