RAJA FEATHER KELLY / THE FEATH3R THEORY Doomers

DOOMERS is a piece for six exhibition spaces with which choreographer and director Raja Feather Kelly continues an interdisciplinary body of work that ranges from solo pieces and collaborations with Wu Tsang and serpentwithfeet at the Summer Festival to award-winning choreography for musicals and operas. With his Brooklyn-based dance-theater-media company the feath3r theory (TF3T), he produces works that fuse choreography, theater and visual media. This is also the case in DOOMERS, which deals with the consequences of our digital consumption on attention and intimacy. The piece addresses "doomscrolling", the compulsive scrolling through negative news or social media content, and asks how our bodies are shaped by the constant confrontation with crises and how perception is changed by the constant flow of information. A collaboration between TF3T and Hamburg-based performance artist Kameron Locke, DOOMERS combines contemporary dance, physical theater and influencer aesthetics. The work consists of individual live performances that come together as a parcours through the six institutions of the Kunstmeile Hamburg, thus reflecting the engaging logic of scrolling itself.
