The "Sea Symphony" by Ralph Vaughan williams is a monumental choral symphony based on texts by the American poet Walt Whitman. Williams was inspired by the visionary and universal theme that uses the sea as a metaphor for human existence and the spiritual journey of man. The music is imbued with a "maritime" sound world created by wave-like melodies, broad harmonies and dynamic contrasts.
