In the organizer's words:
This film is part of our FRESH BLOOD section.
Recluse
After receiving a mysterious phone call, sound engineer Joan returns to the house where she grew up. Her father, a well-known and controversial painter, lies in bed, disfigured by severe burns and barely able to speak. He is watched over by the family’s longtime housekeeper—armed with a crossbow—and a young nurse. The gloomy artwork and the ominous whispers from the walls stir up memories of her brother’s tragic death and her mother’s disappearance. With the help of old audio recordings, Joan gradually uncovers a terrifying family secret that now demands revenge.
With *RECLUSE*, which celebrated its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, Henry Chaisson presents a suffocating, atmospheric horror trip. The artwork, which looks as if it were painted with blood, and the sound design alone are enough to make your blood run cold—even squinting your eyes won’t be enough to escape the horror.

He is watched over by the longtime housekeeper—armed with a crossbow—and a young caregiver. The dark paintings and ominous whispers emanating from the walls reawaken memories of her brother’s tragic death and her mother’s disappearance. With RECLUSE, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, Henry Chaisson delivers an oppressive, atmospheric horror experience. The artwork—which looks as though it were painted in blood—and the sound design alone are enough to make your blood run cold; closing your eyes won’t be enough to escape the horror.
